A new attachment plugged-in to the historic existing building, the extension stands as a striking innovation in brutalist architecture that creates a balance between historic city center, nature and community.
Located at the confluence of the rivers Isarco and Rienza, nestling in a wide basin halfway between Bolzano and the Brenner Pass, Bressanone is the oldest town in Tyrol, with the Swiss Alps and the Dolomites as part of his landscape.
Due to these facts, the building reveals itself as a mixture of concrete panels and glass invisible structure which both together, builds the iconic view of the mountain as a house.
The restaurant and the public café is located on top of the building, protected by the lightly glass roof where the views of the landscape is simply, terrific.
The new extension to the building, responds to this terrific surrounding landscape in terms of nature, gravity and density. In one hand, the fluency of water. In the other, rockiness of stone.
